VVS1 clarity is a very high rating. At VVS1, only a trained expert can detect flaws using a loupe at 10x magnification. Inclusions in VVS1 diamonds are extremely small and very, very difficult to see under 10x magnification.
To the naked eye, a VVS1 clarity diamond looks perfect. It is impossible to see inclusions or blemishes without the aid of a jeweler’s loupe to view the diamond at 10x magnification. Even with the jeweler’s loupe, someone without experience will have a very difficult time finding an imperfection.
VVS1 vs VVS2 Clarity
Usually, inclusions and blemishes in VVS1 diamonds can only be seen by looking through the bottom of the diamond. The difference between the VVS1 vs VVS2 diamond is very small. If the inclusion can be seen through the top of the diamond then it is a VVS2. If the inclusion can only be seen by looking through the bottom of the diamond then it will receive a VVS2 rating.
